How to migrate your CMS Website in Tublat from any linux web hosting provider.

In this article we want to provide you a detailed guide to let you independently fulfill the migration process of your website, which includes the transfer of the domain, databases and files and emails, from your old web Linux hosting to Tublat. This procedure is valid for any CMS like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Prestashop, Magento, etc.

Generally speaking, what you need to do is first buy a new Linux hosting plan, while still leaving active everything related to the hosting you are about to abandon.

For your safety it’s necessary making a full backup of the website from your old provider by extracting the files from your website via FTP, database files and the emails, uploading them on the web space of your new hosting Linux plan activate with Tublat.

We remind you that on Tublat you have both the possibility of simply registration or domain transfer and the purchase of Linux ssd hosting plan. To be able to realize your website migration, it’s not enough to just transfer the domain, but you have to necessarily purchase a Tublat hosting plan. Verify here if your domain extension is one of these!

Now let's see how to proceed with the migration. Let's start with the domain transfer.

1. Domain transfer

The first thing to do in order to migrate your website is to apply for a domain name transfer. To do so you have to ask your old provider for the authorization code (also called epp code or auth code).

Once you have obtained the code, go to the appropriate section of the website www.tublat.com and choose the hosting Linux plan that suits your needs by clicking on Order. In the next screen you will have to select the item Transfer your domain from another registrar, inserting the domain you want to transfer with the correct extension and then click on Transfer. Wait for the domain to be considered suitable for the transfer and click Continue.

Now it's time to enter the authorization code that the old provider has given to you. In this phase you have the possibility to select additional free services for one year such as:

- DNS management: to improve the speed and performance of your website;

- ID protection: to protect your personal data and reduce spam emails;

- Email forwarding: to receive email from different addresses on the same email account.

The last step includes entering your personal data and details of the payment method to complete the order, after which you will receive a series of emails to validate the transfer.

Remember that to transfer a domain it’s necessary it has been registered for more than 60 days and that on its expiry will be missing more than 15 days.

Let's now get on to the extraction and migration of website files and databases.

2. Website transfer

2.1. Files extraction

Before starting the transfer process, we recommend that you backup your website by downloading the files of your website via FTP to your PC, via a Client such as FileZilla. To connect to the Client you will need to enter the Host, Username, Password, provided to you by the old provider and the door number.

Transfer all the file of your website (ex. all all contents of the folder public_html, where you will find other subfolders and files of  your website) locally, on your desktop.

2.2. Database and files migration

In order to migrate the database of your website, the first thing you need to do is access your client area of you hosting of origin and go to the database management panel.

Here you will see a list of folders and you will have to select the database folder which contains all the files related to the web page you are about to migrate and start the export using the appropriate button. With this, a file in SQL format will be generated (generally called localhost.sql) with all the information contained in the database where you will only have to confirm to start the download of the file, that if presenting a large size will be compressed.

At this point you can close all the windows that relate to your old hosting and access your client area of Tublat. Login to cPanel from My services to the database section clicking on MySQL® Database where you will have to create the database of your site and click on Create database and insert the username and password to be associated with it.

We advise to you to use the same data (prefix, username and password) of the previous database.

Returning to the Database section, click on phpMyAdmin, where you will have to click on the import item to import the SQL file obtained from the old hosting. Eventually create at least one ftp account in the FTP Account section of Tublat's cPanel and provide to copy the files previously saved on your desktop (for example, move all the files and folders contained in public_html saved on your desktop to the public_html folder of the web space of your new Linux Tublat Hosting plan), connecting to the Client via FTP with the ftp account data you created.

Let's now see how to migrate mail.

3. Email transfer

If your emails are managed and stored directly in your hosting space it will be necessary to transfer these too in order not to lose the old mail already received.

To do this you can download IMAPsize, a simple and intuitive program that will allow you both to migrate mail from an old Linux hosting to Tublat, and to transfer emails from two different accounts of the same Tublat hosting.

Once you have downloaded it to your PC you will have to backup the emails by going to Account -> Account backup -> Select all -> Backup, where you will have to save all the folders you want to keep and then click the Backup button to start the saving.

As soon as you have completed the backup phase, you will have to go to the cPanel of your Tublat hosting and select the Email section and recreate the same email address with the same password.

Finally, just go back to IMAPsize in the Account -> Restore backup, to upload all your old emails to the new Tublat hosting account.

As its name indicates, this application uses the IMAP access protocol, so when synchronizing email accounts on other devices, messages are kept on the server on which they were located.
